The Big Umbrella / Book Review

A sweet book about friendship and inclusion:

Title:

The Big Umbrella

Author/Illustrator:

Amy June Bates

Juniper Bates

Favorite Line:

There is always room.

Synopsis:

There's room for everyone under the big umbrella.

In "The Big Umbrella" join a fun group of characters as they gather under a big and friendly red umbrella to get out of the rain. The umbrella has a cute and happy smile throughout the story as it gets to do what it loves most, help others.

Recommendation

I highly recommend this simple story for it's beautiful message - to accept others no matter how different they are. To make room and to be a friend to all.

Favorite Illustrations:

I really love these illustrations. I love the simple yet cute little face Amy June Bates put on this umbrella. I love how happy it is to be helping so many characters. I also love the unique characters she created and included in this story, including a giant "duck" too big to fit on the page, a hairy monster, and a ballerina dancing from page to page. The colors create a serene feeling that creates a calm and entrancing story. Enjoy some of my favorites:
